Montana Dog Sledding/Snowshoeing Trips

Montana dog sledding treks offer a fun, exciting, and rewarding outdoor recreation experience for families, and create treasured memories that last a lifetime! Montana High Country Adventures, Inc. Can offer our clients through the service of a professional business associate a grand dog sledding adventure through pristine back country located in beautiful Paradise Valley, 40 miles South of our lodge, in the foothills of the majestic Absaroka Mountains. Come see for yourself and breathe in the crisp cold air and watch the snow covered mountains towering above the trail as you sled you way along a mountain stream, truly a world all its own.

Day trips into the Absaroka Mountain Range ensuring quality snow conditions throughout the season. Great family fun to be had by all ages, from young children to a more seasoned senior. All of these treks offer a “hands-on” experience so you can be involved as much as you’d like. Professional guides will assist you to ensure you a safe, memorable experience.

Full day treks allows you to take in views one can only experience by dog team. The trail takes you to scenic mountain vistas...An hour stop includes an outdoor lunch cooked by your guide! Savory buffalo steak and trout grilled to perfection with hot drinks, French onion soup, homemade bread and cheeses and chef’s choice of melt-in-the-mouth homemade cheesecake. The full day trek is 18 miles* on trail by dogsled team. This adventure starts at 9:15 a.m. and returns to Chico Hot Springs late afternoon, usually between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m.

Half day treks, you’ll enjoy hot drinks, French onion soup, homemade bread and cheeses topped off by a slice of delicious creamy, cheesecake – all served on a deerskin hide under the great Montana sky. At the picnic site, you’ll have a chance to take pictures, pet the dogs and enjoy being in the great outdoors. The Yukon trek is 10 miles* on trail by dogsled team. The half day treks start at 9:15 a.m. and returns to Chico Hot Springs mid-afternoon, usually between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m.

2 hour treks are a great introductory trek and gives you 6 miles* on the trail by dogsled team, returning to Chico early afternoon. A fun opportunity for the entire family to see the dogs doing what they enjoy. This is also a great way to experience Montana dog sledding if you have young children.

On all treks, guests are invited to experience driving a team of dogs. If you just want to enjoy the ride, sit in the basket of the sled wrapped up in a sleeping bag. Positions are often changed out on the trail, there’s a place for everyone!

Wear warm and waterproof clothing as if you were going skiing or snowmobiling. Dress in layers wearing warm clothing next to the skin, waterproof clothing on the outside. Include a hat, gloves and good insulated boots (insulated, high rise boots). Hand and foot warmer’s are available for purchase. Bring what clothing you have and additional apparel is available to assure you are outfitted properly.

A great addition to enjoying your Montana dog sledding adventure is to soak in the Natural Hot Springs at Chico Hot Springs! Your dog sledding trek starts and finishes at this facility near Chico! The warm natural pool will surely temp you to wash away the chills after your dog sledding journey!

Will provide during your vacation the planning, organization, personal service, and transportation from our facility for your Winter dog sledding treks in Montana while staying with us!...cost of participating in such activity per day for each individual is extra and payable to the outfitter or business associate(s) providing said activity or service. Any other activity or activities of interest can be added to your Montana vacation package during your stay, price for each activity is extra.

Adult: $375/Day for non sledding days or selecting the intro trek.
Adult: $250/Day for the days selecting a half day trek on that day only.
Adult: $125/Day for selecting a full day trek on that day only. 
All other days without a dog sledding trek will be the normal:

Child (17 and under): $75 Per Day
Family Rates: $375 Per Day


Rates For Dog Sledding Treks: 

  • Full Day Trek - 18 miles*, 6 hours on the trail, includes Buffalo steak and grilled trout cooked outdoors, return to Chico late afternoon! $340/

  • PersonHalf Day Trek - 10 miles*, 4 hours on the trail, includes picnic lunch with hot drinks, return to Chico mid afternoon! $250/Person

  • Intro Trek - 6 miles*, 2 hours on the trail, return to Chico early afternoon! $125/Person

Chico Natural Hot Springs Rates: $3-$5 Per person/Day + towel rentals and dining optional.

Snowshoeing Trips in the beautiful Montana wilderness landscape can be a fabulous family Wintertime adventure and great cardiovascular exercise! With miles and miles of trails within close proximity of our lodge, we can provide you an endless selection for your snowshoeing adventure here in Montana! Let the fresh Montana open air revitalize your sole as you trek your way through some of the most pristine wilderness in the United States! A truly unique experience your entire family can enjoy during your vacation with us.

These trails are generally the same ones hiked or biked during the warmer season and offer a wide variety of opportunity depending on fitness level, challenging elevation changes, or just wanting a casual stroll for family leisure and fun!...there are more miles of trails than you will ever snowshoe during one vacation! We provide food and drinks for your Wintertime hikes as well as the transportation! After each day or half day Montana Snowshoe Adventure, we will return you to the lodge for some home cooking and relax in our hot tub with a glass of wine and soothe those soar muscles!

Snowshoe’s and pole rentals are available upon arrival. Get out and experience some fantastic Winter hiking through this amazing back country and you will understand why this area of Montana is a top vacation destination for families and individuals seeking fun and adventure!

Some of the best snowshoeing trails in Montana according to a leading trails website are located 15-20 miles just South of our lodge! These trails set in the historic and rugged Bridger Canyon below the picturesque Bridger Mountain Range. These trails wind through meadows and forests on both private and Forest Service land. Surface quality: Machine-groomed daily for some truly awesome back country snowshoeing, Montana style!
