Our personal staff here at Montana High Country Adventures, Inc. Is dedicated to outdoor fitness and incorporate these activities into our lifestyle as much as possible! You will be treated to personal service and experienced biker’s that can make your biking trip very enjoyable while sharing knowledge on physical fitness and good camaraderie!. Mountain bike trips in Montana can be quite an adrenaline pumping adventure! Our area encompasses some of the most unique landscape and technical aspects you will find anywhere in the United States! From beginner to expert, you’ll find leisure recreation rides or challenging downhill slopes that will meet or exceed your mountain biking skills and limits! 

Nature Trails: Miles of back country scenery, wildflower meadows, wildlife, and few human encounters can offer the leisure minded individuals and families alike an amazing Montana biking adventure. Relax and enjoy your bike ride along meandering streams and rushing rivers, through conifer forests under clear blue sunny skies! Melt away stress as you enjoy a picnic lunch stream or lake side with options to stop at beautiful scenic overlooks and soak in the natural beauty of the high country mountains and lush picturesque valley’s that attracts so many vacation minded individuals to Montana! Great for families and individuals wanting to experience low impact exercise with great rewards to improve your cardiovascular health, and enjoy a relaxing, more casual stress free activity. 

Road Biking: Road biking trips in Montana can be experienced right from our lodge or a short drive away to expand the opportunities that we can offer to our clients. Miles of flat, gently rolling, or steeper inclines can be catered to individual skill levels and rider preference. Highway 86 between Bozeman and Wilsall is a great all round road biking experience that can offer a mix of everything with amazing views of the Crazy Mountains and Bridger Mountain ranges. Start out in low valley agriculture flat lands for approximately 15 miles through the Shields River valley and along battle ridge towards the Bridger pass where you start the gradual climb up and over the gap as far as Bozeman, total 36 miles one way!...depending on your athletic ability and skill level you can stop short, turn around head back. For the more advanced and physically fit individuals, travel all the way into Bozeman and take the vertical climb to the famous college “M’. Approximately 30-40 minute hike (one way), then head back to the lodge or swing by Fairy lake for a rest and picnic approximately half way between our lodge and Bozeman. Flexibility is key as we can provide many opportunities and options for your road biking experience here in Southwestern Montana!...Several overnight packages can be mapped out and we can develop a plan for you to suit your physical needs and abilities. Downhill Mountain Biking: Ski lift access and forest roads offer off-pavement, out-of-traffic thrill seeking downhill experiences. There are trails on and around these mountain ski slopes on which to explore. New beginner and advanced trails are being constructed to offer more opportunities for recreational biking enthusiasts . Downhill Mountain bikers can also find a plethora of trails to get their heart rate pumping to the max!.

Trail Crews work to increase the biking experience and maintain trail systems and create new an exciting obstacles. The bike park hosts riders to new bridge sections, Progressive jump lines, longer ladder sections, three new down hill trails and more competitive series racing. Caution: Prior to using freestyle terrain, it is the riders' responsibility to inspect the terrain, understand that the terrain changes constantly due to weather and use, assume the risk of injury when jumping, and keep control of body and equipment at all times. Please be courteous and respect others, clear the landing areas quickly and ride within your ability.

All downhill ski lift accessed mountain biking is intermediate to advanced. Trails are not patrolled, use at your own risk. Limited beginner trails, extreme exposure, loose rock roads can all offer some unique challenges!

Some of the best mountain biking trials near our lodge:

Fairy Lake Trail: Located 9 miles from our lodge on the East side of the Bridger Mountain Range. Highlights of this Montana mountain biking trail includes: Wildflower’s, wildlife, and a wild downhill ride. Fairy Lake makes a great (though sometimes crowded) rest stop. Trail description: 5 miles on single track; 7.6 miles on logging road; 2.8 miles on gravel highway.

Grassy Mountain Loop Trail: Located 22 miles from our lodge along the crest of the Bangtails in Bridger Canyon. Highlights of this Montana mountain biking trail includes: Awesome single track in the unspoiled end of the Bangtails; spectacular views East to the Crazy Mountains and West to the Bridgers. Trail description: 4.1 miles on open logging road; 1.3 miles on double track; 4 miles on single track; 3.9 miles on paved road. 

Emerald Lake Trail: Located 35 miles from our lodge in the Peaks high country. Highlights of this Montana mountain biking trail includes: This is the single track stairway to heaven!. It has roots, rocks, and water breaks but always offers a rideable line. Riders of all skill levels will enjoy looping through the many up and down switchbacks, all relatively easy to ride. Plus you get a babbling creek, wildlife, and beautiful scenery that surrounds Emerald Lake

Big Sky Downhill Mountain Biking: Big Sky ski resort and the surrounding area can offer many options to satisfy even the casual cross country rider to the most extreme downhill adrenaline junkie! Let Montana High Country Adventures, Inc. Introduce you to a whole different world of downhill biking through our service to Big Sky during your stay with us! 

These adrenaline pumping mountain bike rides can be experienced through your stay with us as we will provide transportation and planning for your Montana high country biking adventure! Bring your own bike and gear or rent from one of our local business associates during your stay, cost is extra!

Montana High Country Adventures, Inc. Will provide during your vacation the planning, organization, personal service, and transportation from our facility for your mountain biking trips in Montana while staying with us!...cost of participating in such activity per day for each individual is extra, example: bike rental, riding gear, etc., and payable to the outfitter or business associate(s) providing said activity or service. Any other activity or activities of interest can be added to your Montana vacation package during your stay, price for each is extra.

  • Yield to hikers & service vehicles

  • Be sure your gear is in good working order

  • Watch for construction vehicles

  • Respect private property & route closures
